PithoragarhPithoragarh district is  bordering Nepal in the east and Tibet (China) on the north and is a treasure house of attractions for visitors, mountaineers , and toursits and the religious minded . The district came into beeing in 1960 , due to strategic location ,the outer limits require permits to explore ths region. .nestling in a small valley of 5kM LONg and 2km wide the twon of Pithoragarh was an important landmark of Chnad rajas of Kumaoun .

Pithoragarh is a small town, which gives its name to the district. It lies in the centre of the western half of the Soar Valley which resembles the Kashmir valley on a miniature scale. It is prettily dotted with villages, generally placed on eminences. The view from some of the higher altitudes in Pithoragarh captures the snow-capped peaks of Panch Chulhi, Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot.[The flora and fauna, the charaming colourful people of Pithoragarh celebrate all festivals and religious ceremonies with great funfrae devotion . .The pligrim route Kailash -Mansarover traverse through this region.
